Pete, why are you going through the trouble of organizing all of this?
There are a few reasons. First, I think by creating more art, you eventually create better art. If you make a commitment to writing something every week, you're going to have some stuff you really like by the end of the year. Here's a quote I really like on this topic. Second, I think having a regular place to get feedback and support helps all of us create more. Here's another quote (from The Artist's Way) that talks about artist communities.
Writing music has become important to me over the past couple years and I was hungry for a place to play music as well as a community of supportive fellow musicians. I figured by hosting a Circle I could get what I needed and also provide the same things to some fellow musicians. Plus I have a big enough apartment to do it in. And when the Circle's over, my bedroom's only a few feet away.
